Dr. Alexa Allen

Veterinarian

Dr. Allen was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA amongst a family of cat enthusiasts. She grew up with a sweet orange tabby cat named Samson and decided from an early age to become a veterinarian. In 2017, Dr. Allen graduated from the University of Edinburgh’s Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies after which she completed a one-year rotating internship in Brooklyn. Having decided to devote her career to feline medicine, she then spent three years at Forest Hills Cat Hospital in Queens, New York. In 2022, Dr. Allen decided to return home to Philadelphia and joined the team at Caring For Cats. During her free time, Dr Allen enjoys casual pursuits such as reading, television/cinema, finding new foods to eat and long walks. She is looking forward to adopting multiple kitties of her own! 

Dr. Mike Messina

Dr. Messina completed his rotation internship at VCA South Shore in Weymouth, Massachusetts, and practiced general and emergency medicine prio to joining the staff at Rau Animal Hospital (our sister hospital), and Chestnut Hill Cat Clinic.

Originally from Philadelphia, Dr. Messina, now resides in Wyncote with his wife, Emilie and their pets- Meadow, a tuxedo cat, Freya, a Norwegian Buhund, and Junior, a southern-painted turtle. He enjoys cooking, reading, hiking, playing the violin and disc golf in his free time.
